What is the difference between regular braces and Fastbraces®?
There is no shortcut to achieving straight teeth alignment, but with Fastbraces® years of treatment can turn to months.

The design of Fastbraces® is triangular as opposed to the conventional square type braces. Square type braces begin correction during the first year by working on the crowns, then moving to the roots by the second year.

With Fastbraces® triangular bracket, movement of the crown and root are simultaneous. There is no extra risk for the patient. The device gently eases the tooth into proper place with minimal discomfort.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two.

Conventional Braces

  • University tested
  • Used for decades
  • Square brackets
  • Complex treatment
  • Often changes natural bite
  • Usually need extractions
  • Multiple wires used
  • Typically 1.5-3 years
  • High Cost
  • Delayed root movement
  • Pain issues reported
  • Typically 24/7 retainers

Fastbraces® Technology

  • University tested
  • Used for over 20 years
  • Triangular brackets
  • Simple treatment
  • Natural bite preserved
  • Almost always non-extraction
  • Just one wire
  • 3 months to about a year
  • Low Cost
  • Crown and root simultaneous movement
  • Pain reduction statistically
  • Typically 15-20 min./day retainers
What are the advantages of one-visit crowns over regular dental crowns?
A dental crown is a restorative dental device that helps return strength and beauty to a damaged tooth. Its advantages can be categorised into three categories:

  • Protection
  • Restoration
  • Aesthetics

It protects the tooth from further damage, restores strength and performance, and improves appearance.

One-visit crowns have additional benefits over regular crowns. Crafted using CAD/CAM dentistry or Computer Aided Designing/Computer Aided Manufacturing, one visit dental crowns are proven to be: more durable, more accurate, and because they only need one dental appointment, more convenient.

The cutting edge technology uses an intraoral camera, which takes more accurate impressions of your teeth compared to regular X-rays. The resulting impressions are in 3D, giving a better picture of your teeth, leading to overall better performance.

What is Zoom Whitening?
Zoom Whitening is our in chair teeth whitening option. The procedure whitens your teeth up to eight shades in less than an hour.

The Zoom bleaching gel is stronger compared to that used in regular whitening, therefore it removes tougher stains. The result is a whiter teeth shade, which lasts longer compared to its alternatives.

During the procedure, ideal candidates undergo several steps. First the teeth are cleaned to remove plaque and stains. The lips and gums are covered to expose the teeth.

The bleaching gel is applied and stays on the teeth for 15 minutes, during which the chairside lamp is focused on them. After 15 minutes, your teeth are rinsed and the process is repeated.

After a few cycles, your dentist may demonstrate the resulting shade to check if it has already achieved your goal shade.

What are the dental treatments included in a Smile Makeover?
A smile makeover is the total improvement of your smile and all aspects that affect it. Your teeth, gums, jaw are among the areas checked.

The combined dental procedures depend on what you need. Common dental issues solved are:

  • Misalignment and jaw issues
  • Crooked teeth (crowding of teeth)
  • Missing teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Amalgam (silver) fillings
  • Worn and broken teeth
  • Gaps between teeth

The best thing about smile makeovers is the fact that the multiple dentistry treatments performed are designed to work harmoniously, as opposed to being performed one at a time. The result is a better smile profile and improvements that last longer.

What is the difference between porcelain veneers and dental bonding?
Porcelain veneers are millimetre thin shells made of tooth coloured materials bonded to the surfaces of the teeth to mask minor teeth imperfections.

Cosmetic bonding is the application of resin material directly on the damaged tooth to improve its appearance. The material is tooth-coloured making it natural looking and impossible to identify when applied.

Both porcelain veneers and cosmetic bonding target similar minor flaws in teeth:

  • Cracks
  • Chipping
  • Fractures
  • Small gaps
  • Discolouration
  • Minor orthodontic issues –misaligned, irregular shape, uneven
  • Exposed roots

Dental bonding may be applied directly to a target tooth. The more common type of veneers (traditional veneers) require impressions of your tooth first to fabricate the porcelain shells.

Both effectively improve your smile. Dental bonding is the less costly of the two. However veneers last longer. Your dentist will help you determine which is the better option for you.

Is wisdom tooth extraction necessary?
The third molars are the last set of teeth to erupt. And since they erupt at a time when you are supposed to be someone with wisdom, around 17-25 years old, they have earned the name wisdom teeth.

Not everyone has wisdom teeth. Your teeth function effectively even without them – they do not affect performance.

However, if a wisdom tooth has issues, your other teeth may suffer as well. Common dental issues are impaction, gum flaps, cysts, and alignment issues.

When this happens, extraction is necessary; otherwise your oral health will be compromised. For example, an impacted wisdom tooth is not only painful but can also damage alignment and previous dental work, including orthodontics.
